Line Installation
A major beverage producer was looking to install a new product line requiring all new electrical systems including main switchboards, electrical panels, control panels and conveyor systems with automation and controls. Knowing the many intricacies that were involved in the project, they called on their trusted electrical provider for the last 15 years – J.F. Electric.
Right from the start, J.F. Electric worked closely with the client to outline the project’s goals. Installations were performed with ease and in a timely manner with as little interference as possible to project schedule and owners production. J.F. Electric also provided detailed designs of the electrical systems featuring the latest technologies designed to reduce manpower.
Installation included all conduit and wiring systems for Switchboard, Motor Control Center, Conveyor power and controls, including a cable tray system and busway system in lieu of individual conduits – saving costs by reducing the number of conduit runs.
The conduit systems for conveyors and automation were field designed so as to not impede production, and provided a clean and nonbacterial environment as well as increased the ease of maintaining the systems. Constant research was done to obtain the lowest pricing for all materials and major project purchases.
All installations were done utilizing J.F. Electric’s highly skilled electricians who completed the project in a professional manner, using the latest product and technologies and working in sync with the owner’s production needs and other craft installations.
In the end, J.F. Electric helped the client save approximately 4% on purchasing materials, reduced their manpower needed and reduced overall installation time by approximately 800 man hours, finishing the project seven to ten days ahead of initial scheduling.
All reasons why this client will turn to J.F. Electric for their next project needs.
Facility Expansion
A repeat customer of J.F. Electric requested preliminary budget estimates to expand their existing computer equipment assembly and test facility.
After meeting with the customer to determine their needs as well as optional upgrades they might want, we analyzed their existing power capacity and load to determine how to most cost effectively provide the additional power they needed. Adding a new service was determined to be more cost effective than modifying their existing service and also allowed for future expansion capability to be built in.
J.F. Electric then developed several preliminary design and cost estimates emphasizing low cost and constructability without compromising quality and of utmost importance to this customer, reliability. We then collaborated with the customerβs engineer, managers, and technicians to make sure all their needs were met.
After refining design and coordinating with another design team, a firm bid for the project was given by J.F. Electric. This bid was within 1% of the initial budget and J.F. Electric was awarded the job.
Part of the plan called for equipment to be efficiently located so that installation costs would be minimized. We also suggested and won approval to move electrical switchgear and HVAC equipment to minimize electrical feeder lengths. We also created significant cost savings on installation labor by using alternate methods to traditional conduit and wire for large ampacity feeders.
As the project progressed, the customer requested many small changes. The majority of these were incorporated into the project with no or minimal cost impact due to key J.F. Electric personnel being accessible and able to provide quick response. Rework was nearly eliminated resulting in even more cost savings.
Overall, the project was completed on time with total electrical change orders of less than 2.5% of the project. After turnover, we have continued our mutually beneficial relationship with this customer. They know they have a dependable and knowledgeable contractor looking out for their best interests for their day-to-day electrical needs, and J.F. Electric benefits from nearly continuous work at their multiple facilities.
Building Repurpose
Costs were already over budget for a medical marijuana facility that was looking to remodel an existing office building into their new health care facility. So they turned to J.F. Electric for help.
After analyzing the entire lighting layout in the building, not only did we change the fixtures and layout, we also were able to save the client money by installing energy efficient LED light fixtures for less than the original fixture package.
In addition, J.F. Electric engineered the stand-by generator to meet the clientβs needs and modified the existing electrical service to be reused instead of changing out to new. High output LED wall pack fixtures were utilized on the building for parking lot lighting/security lighting and we engineered the receptacle and data drops to reduce quantity but still provide what was needed and required. Phone and data cabling were also provided and we furnished and installed a fire alarm system.
Upon completion, J.F. Electric submitted a deduct change order saving the customer over $17,000 and the new facility was ready for business.
